About the Andean Mountain cats
An Andean mountain cat lives in Chile, Argentina, Bolivia and Peru. The Andean mountain cat is found in the rocky-arid and semi-arid zones of the high Andes above the timberline. It eats chinchillas and mountain viscachas. Man and young birds of prey eat the cat. Andean mountain cat reproduce once a year and have litters of 1-3 youngsters. Andean mountain cats have a population of 2500 individuals. This cat is endangered because of poachers. Scientists are doing positive actions by working in the field in their area 30 times. The cats scientific name is leopardus Jacobita. The cat is as large as a big house cat. The Andean male cat weighs 4.0 pounds and the females weigh 4.5 pounds. It's head to body length is 58-85 cm long. The tail length is 41 to 48 cm long. The height of the Andean cat is 36 cm high.
